Walton High School Academics: •Class of 2012 Top 20% weighted GPA ranges were 3.95-4.71 ( Top 10% 4.16-4.71) •The Class of 2005 led the metro Atlanta area by posting the highest SAT in the history of the school.  This score was achieved with 100% of the class taking the test.  With the format change of the SAT for the Class of 2006, Walton led the metro area again with an average 1705 out of 2400 (200 points above national average).  That trend continued with the Class of 2009 (1748); Class of 2010 (1744); Class of 2011 (1755) with 94% testing.

 •The Top 10% of the Class of 2011 scores an average SAT of 2244. •In 2010, Walton students posted the highest ACT in the State, with an average composite score of 25. •Walton has a nationally certified pre-engineering program.  We are the only school in Cobb County offering this four year program through Project Lead the Way. •In 2008, the Ministry of the Education of Spain named Walton as an International Spanish Academy (ISA), the only high school ISA in Georgia, and one of only 54 in the US and Canada.  Students who apply and enroll in the ISA will earn a high school diploma from Cobb County and from Spain.  The Class of 2014 includes 27 ISA members. •In the 2010 Grand Courcours (National French Exam), 15 French students scored in the top 10 both in the state and nation. •The Class of 2012 had 28 National Merit Semi-finalists and 2 National Achievement. •In 2011, both of Sieman's Science Awards were given to Walton students. •In 2009 and 2012, Walton's STAR student was also the State STAR student.
Walton High School Advanced Placement (AP) Program: •64% of seniors have passed one or more AP courses •Walton offers 32 AP courses. •In May 2011, almost 1282 students took 2835 AP Exams. •Walton currently has 10 teachers who have participated as AP Readers for the College Board. •Each year, AP French and AP Spanish students have an opportunity to study in either France or Spain as part of their AP language students through an immersion program developed by the school.  Since 1999, nearly 1400 Walton students have studied at the Universidad Pontificia in Salamanca.


Walton High School Fine Arts: •Over 200 students participate in each of our music programs-chorus, band and orchestra.  All of these programs consistently receive the highest ratings at festivals. •Walton Chorus performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.  Walton Chorus Men's Ensemble is the only high school choir ever to perform in the Spivey Hall Young Artists Series.  Three of our choirs have performed for the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference.  By invitation, they have performed in Carnegie Hall, NYC, the Duomo in Salzburg, Austria, Melk Abbey, Austria, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, Austria, the Cathedral of St. Patrick in NYC, the Governor's Mansion and Bascilica St. Zaccharia, Venice, Italy.  In 2011, Walton Chorus performed again in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Paris, the American Church in Paris and at the American Cemetery in Normandy, France. •The Walton Band has participated in many prestigious events and parades through the years- Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, two appearances in the Tournament of Roses Parade, along with numerous Bowl game performances. They have been finalists many times at Bands of America Regional competitions, and, in 2006, were semi-finalists at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. Most recently, the Band was recognized as a recipient of the prestigious Sudler Shield by the John Phillip Souza Foundation. •Walton's Orchestra has performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic and toured Europe twice in the last five years. •Students' art work is now on display at the High Museum of Art and the Capitol Art Exhibit.


Walton High School Clubs and Extra-curricular Activities: •Walton has won 9 State Math Team Championships.  Walton is one of only 3 Public Non-Magnet Schools in the country to finish in the top 10. •In 2011, both the Varsity and Junior Varsity Academic Bowl Team won the AAAAA State Championship ( following other recent Varsity State Championships in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009).  In national competition, the team finished in the Top 10 in 2006, 2005, and 2004. •The Academic Bowl has competed in the Championship Round of WSB-TVs High-Q 17 out of the 25 seasons that it has been on the air.  Walton holds the state record by winning 13 High-Q Championships (most recently in 2011). •Walton had 8 members of the Georgia ARML (American Regions Math League) in 2009 and 9 in 2010.  The Georgia team traditionally finishes among the top teams in the nation and has won the national championship in the past. •The Walton Robotics team finished 1st in the 2011 Smokey Mountains Regional of the FIRST Robotics Competition.  The team earned a position at the FIRST World Championships.  Project Ninja (Dodgen Robotics), sponsored and mentored by Walton Robotics, earned 1st place at the Wheeler Qualifier robotics competition.  The team also won the coveted Inspire Award, the highest honor in First Tech Challenge. •Walton finished 2nd in the 2009-2010 Mandelbrot National Team Competition.  Walton was one of only 3 public, non-magnet high schools in the country to finish in the top 10. •Mock Trial has won the Cobb County Region four years in a row. •Model UN, Literacy Team and the Debate Team have all won numerous awards at regional, state and national competitions. •Walton's Science Bowl Team has been in existence for 17 years and won first place at the regional competition for 13 years (in the top 5 for 15 years).  This year, Walton again won first at the State and will compete at the National Science Bowl in Maryland.  •Walton competed in the AAPT Physics Bowl Competition 13 of the past 20 years and been recognized 12 times for placing first or second in our region. •Walton Habitat for Humanity has built 14 homes for deserving families in Cobb County.  We are gearing up in 2012 for our 15th build.


Walton High School Athletics: •Walton offers 24 varsity sports and has won more that 54 State Championships (Five in 2011). •Girls Varsity tennis won 8 consecutive state championships from (2004- 2011) and holds the record for longest winning streak of any sport in the State of Georgia (147-0). •Varsity Competition Cheerleading has qualifies for State 11 years in a row.  The longest of any competition squad in the State. •Boys soccer recently won the 2011 State Championship. •Boys lacrosse won their first state championship in 2011. •Volleyball and Cross Country have both won State Championships (most recently in 2011). •Varsity Football played in the State Finals in 2011, marking our 11th season in the playoffs. •Walton's Varsity football team has won 6 Regional titles (5 in the last 10 years). •Boys and Girls Swimming have both won state championships and finished 3rd and 2nd respectively at the most recent state championship. •Walton has been awarded the GADA Dodge AAAAA Director's Cup 5 times year in a row (making it our fourth win in its nine year history at AAAAA).
