Alpharetta Information

The city of Alpharetta is located approximately 25 miles north of Atlanta with a population of about 55,000 residents.  The Metro Atlanta city offers excellent real estate values reflected in quality housing, great school systems, easy highway access & a thriving technology sector.  As one of the South's fastest growing areas, it has recently seen a dramatic increase in the number of dining and entertainment options available to residents and visitors.

Many Fortune 500 companies are based in or have a significant presence in Alpharetta including AT&T, McKesson, LexisNexis and Verizon Wireless.  It’s estimated that over 900 technology-related companies are in the area, largely due to the installation of a comprehensive fiber optic cable system.

Alpharetta History

Chartered in 1838, Alpharetta’s early history was influenced both by the Chattahoochee River and the hills of the North Georgia Mountains.  Its unusual name was chosen to represent what the founders hoped would be its status: Alpha (Greek, “first”) and retta (town).  What began as a trading post and grew into a community populated by small farms and merchants has emerged as today’s “Technology City of the South”.

Considered one of Atlanta’s more affluent suburbs, Alpharetta has a lot to offer home buyers. Families are drawn to this Southern city’s thriving economy, warm climate, and excellent park system, while residents appreciate its proximity to - yet difference from - one of the largest cities in the US.
