Chamblee's Real Estate Market Today

Chamblee is home to nearly 10,000 residents and covers about 3 square miles.   Much of Chamblee’s current real estate is tied in to its past.  After all, one of the main attractions is Antique Row, the South’s largest collection of antique shops.  Another is International Village, a stretch along Buford Highway that is home to commercial and residential areas.  It is truly an area that is welcoming to people of all cultures - individuals hailing from over 30 countries have their homes and businesses in the Village.

Chamblee's History

Chamblee was incorporated in 1908 under its original name, Roswell Junction.  The name grew from the fact that it was build around the junctions of Roswell Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad.  The name was later changed to Chamblee because of concern that the town might be confused with the city of Roswell, 14 miles to the northwest.

Like other cities of its size, Chamblee has had good times and bad.  A notable boom occurred in 1917, when the military base Camp Gordon was constructed, and again during World War II.  Today, Camp Gordon is the location of DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, the second-largest airport in the state of Georgia.
