Although originally Marietta was scheduled to be the railroad hub of Georgia, it lost out on that moniker; Atlanta became the area’s transportation capital in its stead.
History is a recurring theme all through the Marietta area. Marietta Square and Glover Park are the heart of the time-honored downtown. Today, they are still a vital and popular spot, home to a weekly farmers market and other local gatherings. Other Marietta attractions include museums, theater, and the Confederate Cemetery. Families will enjoy the proximity of Six Flags White Water Park.
