Stone Mountain Real Estate Information (cont.)
The Mountain
Stone Mountain itself rises more than 1,600 feet above sea level and towers 600 feet above the local landscape. It is reported to be the largest granite outcropping in the world. One face of the mountain displays a carving of the heroes of the Civil War: Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson. During the summer months, Stone Mountain hosts a lazar show that uses the mountain as a backdrop for a musical show celebrating the history of the area. Families bring blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy the lively show, which is topped off with a fireworks display.
Stone Mountain Park
Stone Mountain Park is Georgia’s top tourist draw, and no wonder. In this one place, you can experience live entertainment and shows, shopping and dining, golf and hiking, and see items of historical and natural interest. In addition to the park itself, there is a rotating cast of festivals to further lure visitors. As an example, take the Yellow Daisy Festival. It is one of the top three craft shows in the nation, and it hosts more than 400 crafters from 38 states. There is also world-class golf and a paddle-wheel ferry boat to complement the beauty of the mountain and park.
